Please be aware that it costs more to extend service to this area than would be recovered through monthly fees—even for a not-for-profit company like Easton Utilities using optimistic sales assumptions. This is typical in rural areas where customer density is low. In these situations, Internet service providers typically share in the cost of construction with the customers to whom they are extending service. As a result of those efforts, Easton Velocity presents the following plan to provide service:
- Easton Velocity will design, install and operate fiber-optic service, including (up to 500 ft direct bury fiber).
- Easton Velocity and the customers will share in the cost of construction, with Easton Velocity paying the majority of the costs and financing the community’s portion over 5 years.
- Each customer who elects service will share in the construction cost in the form of a $60 per month Service Extension surcharge that will be charged for 60 months.
- Residents who do not subscribe to Internet service will not be assessed the fee. If customer signs up for service at a future date, the 60-month Service Extension surcharge will begin at that time.
For example, a customer who chooses Easton Velocity’s $48 Value Internet Service will pay $48 per month for the service plus a $60 Service Extension surcharge per month for a total of $108 per month (not including taxes).
Normal one-time installation and connection fees will apply. We will include up to 500’ of direct bury drop, additional drop charges will apply for longer distances, or if other construction methods are required.
Only Internet and Phone service will be offered in this area.
